Beaches across the Garden State are reopening for what's being called "passive recreation."
Sandy Hook Beach opened back up to the public on Saturday.
It is part of the federal Gateway National Recreation Area.

Strict social distancing is being enforced and face masks are suggested.
Parking lots will remain open but the boardwalk and bathrooms remain closed.
The beach will be manned by full-time lifeguards starting on June 20.
