Snow removal crews get down to business in Morristown
The snow started accumulating on the roadways, sidewalks and even the street meters in Morristown, but it was no match for the pros.
When winter weather strikes, the snow removal crews get down to business, including at the Morristown Airport where landing and taking off conditions are paramount.

"These two big machines are our snow blowers. They work in conjunction with our plow trucks here too so as we get more snow you need to build these rows up along the runways and taxiways so these guys make a nice neat pile,” says Corey Hanlon, of Morristown Airport.

Jeff Paul, director of Morris County Office of Emergency Management says they work in close conjunction with the air traffic controllers.
“They'll let us know if a plane is expected in they give us as much warning as possible,” he says.

Officials at the 911 Center of the Morris County Office of Emergency Management says they are always ready for all kinds of emergencies, including for the latest weather event.

“There's extra staff on because of the storm. We have 911 operators who are ready to handle those calls if the call volume does increase. They're ready to handle that very professionally,” he says.

The mayor of Morristown says they are ready for whatever Mother Nature throws at them.
"Our fire department is prepared, our police department is prepared, OEM is prepared and they all communicate, which is the key,’ says Morristown Mayor Timothy Dougherty. "I've been doing this for 10 years now, they pretty much got it locked down."

Morristown officials have made city parking lots available to the public - free of charge - to free up the streets for snow truck operators.
