New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure theme park says it plans to open what it says is the world's first interactive gaming coaster adventure.
Riders of "Rage of the Gargoyles" will become virtual reality fighter jet pilots as they battle gargoyles.
The 1,377-feet of plunging and turning track features virtual reality headsets and high-definition imagery. Riders can instantly lock on a moving target by moving their heads.
"Six Flags is the leader in innovation, taking North America by storm with the introduction of the very first VR coaster experiences. Here at Great Adventure, this revolutionary VR technology will transform our classic, fan favorite into a cutting-edge thrill," said John Fitzgerald, park president. "Rage of the Gargoyles amps up the fear factor to a level only Fright Fest can deliver."
The ride is scheduled to open at the Jackson park's Skull Mountain on Sept. 24.
