Shots fired into Teaneck homes in 2nd recent drive-by
Two drive-by shooting incidents in a week have left Teaneck residents on edge.
Shots were fired just after 1 a.m. Monday into two occupied homes along Amsterdam Avenue in Teaneck while six people were inside. The people did not want to speak, but police say no one was hurt.
It follows a similar incident in Teaneck last Wednesday. The earlier incident happened just a few blocks away on Washington Place. Police say two bullets flew through the window of a home with seven people inside at around 8:45 p.m. Again, no one was hit.
"It's very disconcerting as a police officer anytime there are bullets or weapons on the street. I just thank God in this case nobody was injured," says Teaneck Police Capt. John Faggello.
Police do not think these were random attacks. They think the homes were targeted, possibly by the same gunman. They're now trying to figure out why. They are fairly sure the incidents were not racially or religiously motivated, but they do think the gunman intended to do more than just scare the residents.
Police are not sure whether the shots were fired from someone on foot or from a moving car. So far, there have been no arrests.
Anyone with information that could help police is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 201-833-4222.
