Many Jersey Shore communities are reporting lower-than-normal beach badge sales for the 2015 summer season.

Beach officials do say seasonal beach badge sales are on target with previous years, but daily sales are down. In Manasquan, only 12,400 daily wristbands have been sold this season. By this time last year, over 18,000 were sold.

"We've had nice weekends and not so nice weekends," says Manasquan lifeguard Brent Shibla. "That determines what kind of crowd we get."

Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty says his town has also noticed less beach sales, but says he believes the town will catch up during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

"The forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday looks beautiful, so we do anticipate a tremendous amount of people coming to Belmar and the rest of the Jersey Shore this weekend," Mayor Doherty says.

Many towns are preparing for the holiday crowds with extra police and extra lifeguards.
