Sheriff: Tip is all it took to track down fugitive
At least 100 law enforcement officers were part of the nationwide manhunt for two escaped Union County Jail inmates. But what exactly does it take to track down a fugitive?
According to Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich, the successful capture of fugitives Jose Espinosa and Otis Blunt came about by good old-fashioned police work.
?You can have all the electronic devices, telephone taps, but sooner or later, it comes down to a policeman talking to someone else,? Froehlich says.
Authorities say it was a tip that led cops to a Summer Street apartment in Elizabeth where they found Espinosa.
Bounty hunter Louis Faccone says nabbing Blunt inside a motel in Mexico City, however, was a lucky break for U.S. Marshals.
Espinosa and Blunt escaped from the jail in December. The manhunt ended last week when both men were captured a day apart.
