Some New Jersey schools are planning temporary, one-day closures to prepare contingency plans for the coronavirus.
Mount Olive will be closed Monday so staff can plan for potential long-term closures, in case they turn out to be warranted because of the virus in the future.
South Brunswick is choosing to do a half-day Monday for the same reason. Next Monday, March 16, the Cranford School District will close one day for planning.
And on Wednesday, March 11, Warren Hills Regional High School says it will close for one day for planning "in case our school is forced to close by the Department of Health due to the coronavirus."
Sayreville Schools had a previously scheduled half-day on Monday, but said in light of the concerns around the virus, it would use the time to review its school health-related closure preparedness plan.
State officials had previously urged school districts to begin these preparations in the event of possible "home instruction."
Separately, a private Jewish high school in Bergen County plans to close for several days because some of its students could have been exposed to the virus.
Dozens of students who attend the Frisch School were potentially exposed during a bat mitzvah held at the Temple Young Israel in New Rochelle, New York last month. The school says it is closing out of an abundance of caution.

Other New Jersey school districts are also planning ahead for the potential spread of the virus.
