Services announced for US Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. who died at 65

Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. will lie in state at the Essex County Historic Court House on Wednesday, May 1. A funeral will be held the next day.

Funeral services have been announced for U.S. Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. who died earlier this week after suffering a heart attack.
Payne, Jr. will lie in state at the Essex County Historic Court House on Wednesday, May 1. A private viewing will take place from 11 a.m. until noon. A public viewing will take place from noon until midnight. The courthouse is located at 470 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. in Newark.
A funeral Mass will take place at Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 2.
The Payne family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Donald M. Payne, Sr. Global Foundation.
Payne, Jr. is the third person to lie in state at the Essex County Historic Court House. His father, Rep. Donald Payne, Sr. lied there upon his death in 2012 and Lt. Gov. Shelia Oliver died in state last year after she died.
