Police in Union County are searching for the person who hurled a brick at a car windshield Monday night in the latest attack along Route 22.
"I'm kind of afraid to drive up that stretch there,? says Lawrence Williams Jr., a driver. ?It kind of makes me wonder if I'm going to be the next one."
There have now been about 30 incidents reported in Union County, but no arrests have been made. Now, local authorities are asking state police to help them catch the perpetrator.
The Hillside driver who became the latest victim of the serial rock thrower was not injured, but the growing trend is raising concerns in the area.
State police say if a 2-pound brick hits the windshield of a car going 50 miles per hour, it has the force of a 44-pound object. That makes the attacks potentially deadly.
In the meantime, the town of Hillside is considering installing fences on Route 22 overpasses.
