Rescue crews in Vermont have suspended their search for a kayaker from Weehawken who was last seen holding onto his overturned yellow kayak on Lake Champlain.
The search had been ongoing for Eric Plett, 41, who was last seen Monday night near Shelburne Point.
The group he was kayaking with reported his kayak had capsized and he planned to swim back to shore.
The Coast Guard said Plett was reported missing after he didn't return to shore.
He wasn't wearing a life jacket.
The search has continued since then and has included searches by boat and by air using helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.
Police haven't ruled out the possibility that Plett made it to shore, but he hasn't contacted family, and his whereabouts are unknown.
AP wire services helped contribute to this report.
