A Scotch Plains man is home with his family after he was imprisoned in Africa for taking pictures of a court building.

War vet Michael Chemidlin, 58, says he was visiting friends in Sierra Leone when the building caught his eye. Officials charged Chemidlin with spying with the intent to free former Liberian President Charles Taylor, who was in the court building at the time. After spending two months in prison, a judge ruled that courts can be photographed.

Chemidlin was released shortly after and returned to New Jersey. His son says Chemidlin had lost weight and his hair was much longer, but he was fine other than that. Chemidlin says he would consider visiting the country again.
