A school bus driver accused in a deadly crash on Interstate 80 in Morris County last year has pleaded not guilty.

Hudy Muldrow, 77, faces two counts of reckless vehicular homicide, among other charges, in the May 2018 crash that killed Paramus elementary school teacher Jennifer Williamson-Kennedy and 10-year-old student Miranda Faith Vargas.

Muldrow is accused of trying to make an illegal U-turn on I-80 after making a wrong turn while taking students on a field trip. A dump truck then struck the bus on the highway. The impact nearly tore the bus apart. In addition to the deaths, dozens of children were also injured

Muldrow has been out on bail, but had his driver’s license taken away. He cannot leave the state.

A trial date has been set for October – but attorneys say that a plea deal is possible.
