All students taking the SAT and ACT college entrance exams will soon have to provide photo IDs on their applications. Students will also have to bring a photo ID to the test itself.

The student photos that must be sent in advance will be printed on the student's admission ticket and the test center will have them on file.

The new requirement is among the worldwide security initiatives announced by a New York prosecutor who's charged 20 current or former high school students in a cheating scheme. The announcement was made jointly with The College Board, which runs the SAT, and the second testing company, ACT.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice, from Long Island, says students were paid up to $3,500 to take the SAT for others.

Rice says in one case, security was so lax that a male student got away with posing as a female.
