A Ridgefield Park firefighter lost his life Sunday after he fought a fire at a Bogota home that also resulted in the injury of three residents and two other firefighters.
Firefighter Steven Dembski left the fire Sunday morning and went to a family party. He later went to the hospital where he died. Dembski was the former fire chief for Ridgefield Park Fire Department.
Fire officials say the fire at the home started on the front porch when a lamp fell on some clothes. The fire moved quickly to the second floor.
Officials say they were able to get the fire under control quickly.
One resident is reported in stable condition with burns.
