Leaders of Catholic, Muslim, Jewish and Protestant denominations met Saturday in Princeton to launch a campaign against torture.

The group announced a nationwide petition drive against torture and called for the president to prohibit U.S. troops from using any form of it. The leaders said their goal is to restore honor to the U.S. military and promote human dignity.

Religious groups who oppose torture are planning to demonstrate in Washington on January 31, the date of the State of the Union Address.
