MIDDLETOWN - A community came together to help a young man fighting a legal battle thousands of miles away.

A bike rally and fundraising party was held yesterday for Beau Hendricks, of Middletown, accused in a deadly car accident in Puerto Rico.

Back in 2012, a rental car in Hendricks’ name was involved in the fatal accident. Supporters say he was not driving at the time.

The fundraiser will help pay for travel and legal expenses. Hendricks, along with his father, is headed back to Puerto Rico on Thursday. His trial is scheduled to begin in July.
