An 8-year-old girl who died in Newark Sunday afternoon did not have any visible injuries, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

But the medical examiner has still not determined how Imani McCray died.

Emergency crews were called to McCray’s apartment building on the 1,000 block of South Orange Avenue in Newark around 1:40 p.m. Sunday.

Official say that an adult found McCray unresponsive in her bedroom. CPR was performed on the child, and she was taken to University Hospital. She was pronounced dead around 3 p.m.
