The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has filed a motion asking for an appeals court to reconsider its decision to overturn the conviction of Dharun Ravi in the Rutgers University webcam spying case.
Ravi was found guilty in 2012 of spying on his roommate Tyler Clementi during a sexual encounter with another man. Clementi later committed suicide.
The Appellate Division of the Superior Court overturned the 15-count conviction last week and ordered a new trial for Ravi. The court ruled that there were changes in the bias intimidation law under which Ravi was convicted.
