The Camden County Department of Health says that a “presumptive positive” case of coronavirus COVID-19 has been detected in the county.
Officials say that the patient is a man in his 60s who is hospitalized in stable condition. It was not immediately known where in Camden County the man lives or who he may have come into contact with. But officials say that he is at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital in stable condition.
“We want to emphasize that this case only reemphasizes the need to follow personal hygiene guidelines vigilantly, this should not be a cause for panic and the risk to the general public remains low,” Camden County Health Officer Paschal Nwako said in a statement.
There are at least three other “presumptive positive” cases of the virus in New Jersey. In all the cases, test results sent to the New Jersey Department of Health testing facility in West Trenton came back positive for COVID-19. Test samples must be sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for official confirmation.

State health officials say that the best way the public can protect themselves is to continue to take precautions one would use to prevent the spread of any illness. Wash hands regularly with warm water and soap, cover coughs and sneezes, and avoid touching one’s eyes and mouths to prevent contamination.
