HUDSON COUNTY - People in Hudson County cooled down Friday night after going more than 24 hours without power or air conditioning during the height of the heat wave.

Power was restored in Hoboken after residents spent part of their Friday cleaning out the refrigerators as the temperatures rose past 90.

The problem started around 6 p.m. Thursday when thunderstorms caused a transformer to blow, knocking out power to residents in parts of Hoboken and Weehawken.

A crew from PSE&G restored power around 8 p.m. Friday night.
