A new poll reveals opinions are shifting in the wake of last month's Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage.The Supreme Court ordered lawmakers to give equal partnership rights. It is now up to lawmakers to decide if that will be through gay marriage or civil unions. Since that decision, a poll shows New Jersey residents support of same-sex marriage has dropped from 50 to 30 percent. The poll also says 40 percent now believe in civil unions and 16 percent say the legislature shouldn't do anything.Rutgers University researcher Tim Vercellotti worked on both polls. He attributes the conservative shift to a reality check. He says before the court?s decision, same-sex marriage was an abstract idea. After the ruling, the idea seems much more realistic and Vercellotti says that scares people.
