The younger brother of rapper, and New Jersey native, Fetty Wap, was shot and killed Thursday night in Paterson.

The shooting happened around 9:01 p.m. in area of 187 Lawrence St.

Police officers responded to a report of a shooting and after arriving, discovered evidence of the shooting at the crime scene, and moments later were notified a victim had just arrived at St. Joseph's University Medical Center by way of a private vehicle.

According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, the victim, Tyshawn Depew, 26, of Paterson, had suffered a gunshot wound and was admitted for emergency treatment.

The prosecutor’s office says Depew was pronounced dead a short time later, around 11:01 p.m.

Fetty Wap shared a photo on Instagram, calling Depew his twin, and describing how he had hoped to get him out of the area before something like this happened. 

Police are still searching for the killer.
