A Middletown woman is facing charges for allegedly smashing in windows at three churches in town over a span of several weeks.
Natalee Hamilton, 34, was charged with four counts of criminal mischief, three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of resisting arrest.
Police alleged that Hamilton used rocks to break windows at Westminster Presbyterian Church, New Monmouth Baptist Church and Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses over a span of several weeks.
The churches were vandalized multiple times between June 1 and July 26, with all three being hit at once on July 19. Most of the incidents took place at night, but police say that the July 26 incident at Westminster Presbyterian Church happened around 11 a.m. while parishioners were still inside the church.
Police say that the incident is being treated as a possible bias crime.
Anyone who might have further information about the crime is asked to contact Detective Darrin Simon at 732-615-2120.
