A Toms River driver will not face charges for hitting a toddler with his car.
Police say the 15-month-old child ran into Clayton Avenue Sunday afternoon while she was “momentarily unsupervised.” Police say the child’s mother went inside the house for a moment and left the toddler with other family members. But the child was still able to run out into the street.
Police say the driver who struck the toddler did not realize he struck anyone and continued on his way.
The child suffered a forehead contusion, according to officials, but was not seriously injured.
