A school bus carrying nine children crashed into a stone wall in Morris County Monday morning.
Washington Township police say that the crash happened around 8:15 a.m. on East Valley Brook Road in the Long Valley section of town. It happened as the bus was heading to Long Valley Middle School.
Authorities say that a white van crossed into the school bus’s lane, causing the bus driver to take “evasion action” to avoid a head-on collision with the van. The bus crashed into a stone wall and utility pole.
Police say that no one on the bus was hurt. The bus driver kept all the kids inside the bus while police called JCP&L to take care of the downed power lines.
Police are asking the public’s help identifying the white van because the driver took off without stopping. The van had New York license plates and was pulling a trailer.
