State and federal authorities nabbed nearly three dozen reputed gang members in two separate roundups Thursday.
State police, along with local police departments in northern New Jersey, arrested 20 alleged members of the Sex Money Murder gang, which is part of the Bloods. The gang is based in Paterson, Passaic and Hackensack.
Among the suspects arrested were Sex Money Murder?s top three leaders believed to be responsible for directing 3,000 gang members across the state. Authorities in two counties said the raids put a major dent in the Bloods street gang.
Meanwhile, in Newark, federal authorities arrested 15 suspected members of a Bloods set known as the Nine Tre, including its leader. The U.S. Attorney spokesman said the Newark suspects sold drugs and high-powered weapons.
