A North Plainfield man is facing arson charges for allegedly setting fire to a vacant house in the town.
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office says that Jonathan Davies, 26, set fire to a vacant home on Maple Avenue early Wednesday morning.
News 12 New Jersey’s cameras were there Wednesday when Davies was taken into custody for questioning.
Authorities say that Davies set fire to the home and then stuck around to watch it burn. The fire spread to two neighboring homes. Two families were displaced by the fire. One firefighter was injured fighting the fire and taken to the hospital. That firefighter has since been released.
Davies is facing aggravated arson and aggravated assault charges and is being held at the Somerset County Jail.
