Police in Jamesburg are investigating gunshots at a church on Lincoln Avenue.
Parishioners of St. James Church say they were shocked to see bullet holes in the front door of the church on Sunday morning.
The shooting happened overnight while the church was closed and there was no one inside.
Rev. Michael Fragoso, the parish priest, said he closed the church at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. He noticed the bullet marks when people started arriving for 8 a.m. Mass the next day.
No other houses of worship in the neighborhood were vandalized.
Fragoso says he plans on praying for whoever is responsible.
"I hope it will bring together our brothers and sisters of different faiths to stand together against this," Fragoso says.
Police are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information should contact the Jamesburg police department at 732-521-0011.
