As part of a joint investigation, officials swarmed a Newark housing complex in a massive drug raid Tuesday. Officers call the Bradley Court Housing Complex on Tremont Avenue a "drug distribution hub." After months of research, including a Rutgers University study, it was determined that the area is one of the most drug-ridden in the city of Newark. Police say they recovered approximately $140,000 worth of heroin and cocaine during "Operation Chainsaw." Members of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Narcotics Task Force and New Jersey State Police worked together in the raid. About 20 people were jailed on drug charges. Although some neighbors are happy about the police action, others say they are fed up with low bail routinely set by judges. They claim the court system is allowing drug dealers back on the streets too quickly.
