Police: Burglar hid under child’s bed

FAIR LAWN - A suspected burglar is in custody after police say he was found hiding under a child's bed in Fair Lawn.

He's identified as 56-year-old Kenneth Webb, who is homeless. Police say he was found hiding under a child's bed on Harrison Drive around 3:45 a.m. Thursday.

According to police, he was also carrying a knife and it's believed he had taken change from a piggy bank and a jewelry box from that room.

Police believe Webb got into the house by opening an unlocked window and cutting a screen. He apparently broke into a second house on Harrison Drive that belonged to one of his own relatives, police say.

Webb faces burglary and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon charges, as well other charges. Bail is set at $35,000.
