An 8-year-old is recovering after being hit by a car Thursday afternoon in Newark.

Police say the incident occurred on Broadway and Second Avenue. The driver remained at the scene.

Authorities say the child was hospitalized and is in stable condition as of Friday morning.

Police have not stated if there will be ay charges against the driver.
