A plumbing problem in a public housing complex in Bridgeport led to flooding in dozens of apartments.

Residents say water poured into their kitchens and bathrooms at the Greene Homes Apartments Friday, leaving them with no running water all weekend.

The city's Health Department told News 12 Connecticut they've reported the problem to the federally funded Housing Authority, which is in charge of the apartments, and it's now being worked on.

One resident, who asked not to be identified, said the water is filthy and has a bad smell.

"My son is autistic. I have no running water here, I can't feed my children, I can't bathe my children. This is upsetting that we're going through this and no one cares. They're telling me I have to wait until Monday just for someone to come and fix this," said the resident.

City officials say they're working with the Housing Authority to get drinking water to residents who need it.
