It may be the only complaint from a New Jersey beachgoer on a cool and sunny Friday heading into Labor Day weekend.

"It was a short summer... I wish it was longer."

Parents and their school-bound kids alike were out soaking up the last few hours of waterfront freedom before classes start.

One mom said she's been coming to Long Beach Island ever since she was a kid, and now she's sharing the tradition with her own.

"We love it down here," she added.
