Twenty-two new recruits were sworn into the Paterson Police Department Monday.
The new recruits will act as probationary police officers. The program is largely funded by the COPS Hiring Program grant, says Jordan Bruce, a recruiter for the police department.
"Growing up, my father was by biggest inspiration, my biggest role model. He was a police officer. I've seen the good he's done with the community, making it better and being very positive," says Bruce.
Next week, the new recruits will head to the Police Academy.
Recruits are set to graduate in June.
