(02/09/06) HACKENSACK ? Bergen County prosecutors and state police officials say they?ve broken up a major gambling ring operated by the King himself.

Police say a man named Robert D?alessio, who calls himself Elvis, ran the illegal operation. The suspected ring spanned three states, seven counties and 34 municipalities. Investigators believe D?alessio had a large hierarchy of people working under his command to help take bets and collect money.

Police began rounding up suspects in ?Operation Jailhouse Rock? Thursday morning. According to investigators, D?alessio is a known associate of the Genovese crime family. It is believed he collected approximately $500,000 a week while the suspected operation was in full swing.
