Officials in Jersey City are probing a police-involved shooting Tuesday evening with a 21-year-old suspect.
The shooting happened Tuesday around 7:50 p.m. on Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street as an officer was conducting surveillance in an area described by the police director as being "highly volatile" and a frequent location of violent crime.
News 12 is told the officer witnessed a 21-year-old suspect receiving a handgun. The officer attempted to stop him. The officer fired three shots at the suspect, with one striking him in the wrist.
The suspect, as well as the officer, were taken to Jersey City Medical Center with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
