Officials say a plane caught fire at Linden Municipal Airport, leaving the pilot seriously burned.
Linden Emergency Dispatch was notified of a plane on fire Sunday around 3:25 p.m. at the airport located at 1101 W. Edgar Road.
The 2003 Fixed wing, single engine aircraft was engulfed on the taxiway. The fire was quickly extinguished by personnel.
The pilot's name hasn't been released, but News 12 is told he's from Brooklyn and, while he managed to escape the burning plane, was badly injured in the process -- with serious burns to his arms and his lower extremities. He was transported to St. Barnabas Burn Center.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
