Officials
say a plane caught fire at Linden Municipal Airport, leaving the pilot
seriously burned.
Linden Emergency Dispatch
was notified of a plane on fire Sunday around 3:25 p.m. at the airport located at 1101 W.
Edgar Road.
The 2003 Fixed wing, single engine aircraft was
engulfed on the taxiway. The fire was quickly extinguished by personnel.
The pilot's
name hasn't been released, but News 12 is told he's from Brooklyn and,
while he managed to escape the burning plane, was badly injured in the process
-- with serious burns to his arms and
his lower extremities. He was
transported to St. Barnabas Burn Center.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
