A fire has displaced dozens of people at a condominium complex in Edison Township.
The fire was reported around 3 p.m. Monday at the complex on Waterford Drive.
Officials say that the fire started on a second-floor balcony and then spread to adjacent buildings.
Resident Jim Rodzejewski was the first person to call 911.
“I just came outside to get my mail and I looked over at Building 12 and on the second floor, black smoke was coming out. And so I went back inside and I called 911. They said nobody had reported it. And then I called our association and our property manager, and she came out,” he says.
Officials say that 24 units were damaged, displacing 84 people in 20 families.
The town and the American Red Cross are helping those who were displaced by providing shelter and assistance. Temporary housing will be provided.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it's not considered suspicious.
