Authorities are trying to determine who left a bulldog abandoned inside a cage on the side of Interstate 287 North in Oakland last weekend.

The North Jersey Community Animal Shelter says the puppy was found on the side of the highway near the Skyline Drive exit on Nov. 5 around 3 p.m.

The shelter is hoping that members of the public saw a pickup truck pull over near the area. They say the truck is likely a two-door white pickup. If anyone recognizes the truck or the dog, they should contact Bloomingdale Animal Control at 973-838-8959.

The shelter says the dog is not up for adoption since this is an active investigation.
