A new virtual training facility in Monmouth County is considered to be one of the most enhanced training simulators in the entire country.

Law enforcement officers from around the state are able to train at the Situational Training and Response Simulator facility in Freehold in order to get real-life training on potential events they may face.

"Split-second decisions have to be made based on circumstances an officer is immersed in and this simulator does just that,” says Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

Officers and first responders participate in simulated scenarios such as school shootings and domestic disputes. Officials say that the training gives rookie and experienced officers and first responders the tools they need to ultimately save lives, including their own.

“Hope is not a plan. We have to train for the worst and be able to react to the worst and make sure we are able to take care of those threats,” says Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden.

Officers are able to train in more than 100 different scenarios at the facility.
