Authorities say an off-duty United States Postal Police officer was shot overnight in Newark.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says the officer suffered a hand injury and was treated and released from University Hospital.
The prosecutor's office did not comment on the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any suspects.
The officer's name was not released.
