Norwalk lifts drought restrictions, urges water conservation
Norwalk officials announced Wednesday the end of their drought restrictions after a nearly six-month water emergency.
Last October, the reservoirs serving Norwalk were less than 25 percent full, prompting the city to issue an emergency order banning outdoor water use.
Thanks to the intervening rain and snow, the reservoirs have been replenished.
Still, Paul Yatcko, general manager of South Norwalk Electric and Water, says he would like residents to continue conserving, especially as temperatures warm up.
Aquarion Water Company says an emergency order remains in place for Darien, Stamford, Greenwich and New Canaan. Officials say they will assess the situation at the end of the month, and then decide whether the order should continue.
