At least 58 people have been displaced from their home after three separate fires at the Colony Oaks Apartment Complex in North Brunswick over the weekend, according to fire officials.
The three fires all happened within days of each other. The North Brunswick fire chief says the number of residents displaced could increase and only accounts for names listed on the leases. It doesn't include any children or pets.
A dryer and a candle were the cause of the first two fires that happened Friday night, fire officials say. The third fire happened Sunday morning and remains under investigation.
Some residents told News 12 New Jersey they are concerned about their safety and belongings moving forward.
Fire officials believe all three fires are unrelated. However, they are still investigating and say they are not ruling anything out.
