No-Shave November is ending, and in North Bergen that meant it was time for 56 police officers to shave their beards.
The month is set aside to raise money and awareness about cancers affecting men.
Fifty-six of the officers donated money, growing out their beards in the month.
"We just wanted to give back," says Lt. Arthur Dell. "We wanted to not only give back but also bring awareness and promote checkups within our department."

Beards are typically against department policy, but an exception was made for this cause.

"A month ago when the chief said to me that we were going to be doing this and asked me if it was OK to relax the code with the beards, I said absolutely," says Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual. "One hundred percent. It's a great cause."

The event was hosted by eyewear store owner Bob Ceragno, a cancer survivor.

"I'm a colon-rectal cancer survivor," says Ceragno. "I had colon-rectal cancer last year. And luckily I survived."

Ceragno contributed to the $3,400 raised by the police department, which will be donated to colorectal cancer research.
