Nonprofit hands out free food in Newark on Christmas Eve
A portion of 15th Avenue in Newark was practically shutdown Saturday due to overflow from an organization's very good deed.
The nonprofit Milagros Angels handed out food on Christmas Eve to anyone in need. The food included greens, cereal, vegetables, fish and more.
The event was put together by Barbara Arroyo, who runs the nonprofit.
"When the Lord cleaned me up 10 years ago from drugs and alcohol, I made a promise that I would come and give back to our community," she says.
Milagros Angels focuses specifically on neighborhoods where there are abandoned homes, buildings and vacant lots.
Milagros Angels concentrates their attention on Newark, but they do volunteer their efforts statewide and even occasionally across the Hudson in New York.
