Non-profit EARS urges pet emergency preparedness
September is National Preparedness Month, and the state's only animal ambulance wants to make sure your pet is prepared for an emergency.
The Connecticut Emergency Animal Response Service (EARS) gave a presentation on pet preparedness Wednesday night at the Shelton Courtyard Marriott.
The non-profit says people need to make sure they have food, water and toys if they need to evacuate, travel or stay in a shelter.
“It’s a stressful situation for pets just as it is for people, so making sure you're prepared ahead of time will really help with that,” said John Nowinski, EARS operation director.
EARS also suggests people research before donating to charities helping pets impacted by disasters.
