A murder investigation turned into health concerns Wednesday after an autopsy showed a Lawrence Township woman was not murdered, but died from meningitis.
Tanja Andric?s body was found in her apartment Saturday night. According to police, the body was surrounded by broken glass and overturned furniture. Investigators said it looked like Andric was assaulted due to the presence of bruises and scratches on her arms and head.
Rumors surfaced among other tenants that Andric was murdered during a possible robbery. After searching the crime scene, investigators said there were no signs of an intruder.
An autopsy revealed Andric died from meningitis. Doctors said the disease can make people delusional and groggy.
The apartment complex management sent tenants notices to clear up questions about the incident. The city health department is waiting to see if Andric had viral or bacterial meningitis. It will also investigate how the woman got the disease.
