A New Jersey state police trooper's 11-year-old triplet daughter is dead and her two sisters are hospitalized in critical condition following a collision between a dump truck and a bus carrying elementary schoolchildren.
State police say Sgt. Anthony Tezsla's daughter Isabelle died in the accident Thursday morning in Chesterfield, south of Trenton. Her sisters, Sophie and Natalie, are at Camden's Cooper University Hospital.
State Police revealed details of the accident, saying that the driver of the dump truck, Michael Caporale, 38, was on Route 528 and allegedly drove through an amber blinking traffic light. The school bus was crossing the intersection of Route 528 and Old York Road when the two vehicles collided. One other student, a boy, also was critically injured.
Police say 17 students on the bus received injuries, most of them minor.
Chesterfield police say the crash remains under investigation. A vigil was held Thursday night at the Chesterfield Baptist Church.
