New Jersey Transit officials warned commuters to expect delays Monday morning on its Raritan Valley Line trains, as they return to regular service following Friday’s derailment near Union.

Speed restrictions on the line in the area of the derailment will likely cause delays in both directions, officials said.

More than a dozen train cars derailed from a CSX train on its way to New York Friday afternoon. It happened on a stretch of track also used by NJ Transit. No one was injured.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.

NJ Transit officials said Conrail worked quickly to repair the damaged tracks over the weekend.

However, in an effort to reduce congestion, the 8:32 a.m. departure from Plainfield will not run Monday morning.

NJ Transit officials advised customers to use its mobile app feature for up-to-date train times.
