A 13-year-old New Jersey girl is doing her part to make sure that sick children don’t go without gifts during the holiday season.

Emily Vaughn has been collecting toys and gifts for Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown since she was 3 years old.

Emily says that she collects all sorts of supplies for the children.

“Legos. They keep the kids busy. Backpacks that have some school supplies. Crayons and baby toys,” she says.

Emily’s family say that she got the idea after she saw a commercial and decided that she wanted to help those who are less fortunate than she is.

“She has a very big heart,” says mother Kim Wertheim. “We start about a week after Christmas and we start getting donations. Buddy’s Small Lots in Ledgewood is one of our biggest donors. And with the help of the fire company in Long Valley this year, they did a fundraiser for her and that brought in more, and then family and friends donate.”

The project is called the “Good E Foundation.”
